DTI holds MSME Negosyo Caravan in Negros Oriental


The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is set to hold a Micro, Small and Medium-scale Enterprise (MSME) Negosyo Caravan at Bethel Guesthouse, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental on July 5 and 6 this year.

The MSME Caravan in Dumaguete City is part of a nationwide activity to improve access of MSMEs to government services particularly in areas where the provision of business development services may be limited.

The activity also aims to increase the awareness of MSMEs on various business development services provided by government and private sectors.

Resource speakers who are experts in their respective fields are brought to various provinces in the country including Negros Oriental to conduct training and counseling sessions to promote entrepreneurship, improve access to markets, access to finance, and increase MSME productivity and efficiency.

Topics to be discussed in Dumaguete City will include among others NEGOSEM Basics such as Mastering Self through Positive & entrepreneurial Mindset, Spotting Business –Opportunities, Registration in BPMS, Choosing the Right Market, Product Development and Marketing.

Other topics to be discussed during breakout sessions include Export Procedures, Product Design & Development, Product Costing & Pricing, Green Manufacturing, Data Upgrading/ Registration in BPMS, Packaging & Labelling, Credit Sourcing & Management.

Side activities include “Made in Negros” Festival at Robinsons’, Diskwento Caravan, Launching of  PCPS4 and e-Bamboo in Dauin.

According to DTI, MSMEs represent 99.6 percent of all registered businesses in the country and can thus be considered as the backbone of the Philippine economy. DTI adds that, to strengthen support to the sector, the series of free entrepreneurship briefing sessions are geared toward enterprise creation and imparting more knowledge and information necessary in starting and running a business.
