DTI Cebu holds Sinulog Fiesta OTOP Fair 2013

The Department of Trade and Industry Cebu (DTI-Cebu), in partnership with the Cebu City Government and the Sinulog Foundation, Inc., held the formal opening of the Sinulog Fiesta OTOP Fair on January 11, 2013 at the Atrium of SM City Cebu.

This trade event features products of more than 50 producers ranging from native delicacies, processed foods, novelty items, fashion accessories, gifts, toys and housewares.

Special guests during the Sinulog Fiesta OTOP Fair formal opening and ribbon cutting ceremony include Sinulog Foundation Executive Director Ricky Ballesteros, DTI 7 Regional Director Asteria Caberte and Cebu GTH Foundation President Pedro Delantar.

The Sinulog Fiesta OTOP Fair will run for twelve (12) days, from January 11 to 22, 2013.

The OTOP or the One Town, One Product Philippines is a priority program of the government to promote entrepreneurship and create jobs. Through OTOP, local chief executives of each city and municipality take the lead in identifying, developing, and promoting a specific product or service, which has a competitive advantage.

OTOP-Philippines supports micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to manufacture, offer, and market distinctive products or services through the use of indigenous raw materials and local skills and talents.

The OTOP
program has brought out the best that each municipality in Cebu can offer to the market.  Through the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) continuing package of interventions in financing, marketing, training, product and technology development, access to business-related knowledge and information interventions, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have found new and larger income opportunities.
